This is an alternative to going to court on a Petitition for Guardianship. This six month temporary guardianship may be renewed for another six months.
New Mexico Guardian is still in a fiduciary position with regard to the assets of the minor. If a long term guardianship is contemplated then a Petition with the Court is advised.
